Helping IDPs in Pollanuruwa Hospital

A group of young people have been delivering aid to the Pollonaruwa hospital where a1108 of displaced people are treated. This location is often ignored by mainstream aid initiatives we are told. The next delivery date is 20th of June 2009.

Following is a needs-list from the hospital:

Aid Collection for Pulmoddai

An effort is underway by a group of people to collect urgent items for an estimated 7,000 refugees in a camp in Pulmoddai. An aid worker who visited the area suggests that we might want to concentrate on meeting the needs of the approximately 4,000 women there. This is an urgent request for donations to collect the following:

Sanitary napkins for 1 month - 4000 X 2 Eva / Free & Easy packets = 8000 in total

Women's panties (large) 4000 X 3 = 12,000

Bras - (sizes 32 - 34) 4000 X 3 = 12,000

A van will travel to Pulmoddai on Friday morning, and the main collection point is at Wellawatte at this address:

Urgent Need of Jeevani in Vavuniya

We have been informed by the Vavuniya hospital that there is an urgent an immediate and urgent need for Jeevani in the Vavuniya Hospital. There will be a Ministry of Health van leaving FCE (Foundation for Coexistence) at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday the 7th of May)

146/20, Havelock Road, Colombo 05. Any amount of Jeevani would be extremely helpful.

Please help by circulating to your friends and relatives. This is the time we need to show that we care. All you need to do is to get contributions of RS 100/= from each of your friends and relatives and help us in this worthy cause. Also need the following

  1. Anyone who can lend ambulances for a minimum period of 3 months.
  2. Medicines – a list will be circulated in due course
  3. Cash donations for food.
  4. Toys, drawing books, pencil colours for children
